Timber Framers Guild Demo

By

The Cascadia Center for Arts and Crafts was pleased to host a Wood-Mizer demonstration at the Summit Campus, put on by the Timber Framers Guild. Timber Framers from around the country are meeting at Timberline Lodge for their Western Conference this year. The Troutdale Wood-Mizer dealership was kind enough to provide an LT-40 portable saw mill to demonstrate how to make beams, slabs and boards from raw logs.  Expert Wood-Mizer sawyer Kaj Enderlein of Heartworks Construction was on hand, and made short work out of about 10 logs. He created wood for a series of picnic benches.

Some of the PNW’s top Blacksmiths were on hand, including Darryl Nelson, Hunter Dahlberg, and Kellen Bateham to custom forge 5″ long iron nails for the picnic bench assembly.  Darryl also demonstrated how he makes his decorative Ram’s Head.
